Newport financial services business Kymin could be posing real competition to the cake baking phenomenon that is Mary Berry.

The team is staging a coffee and tea morning in support of the Argus’ 125 Appeal in aid of St David’s Hospice Care and will have array of delicious Kymin-baked cakes to eat.

The coffee, tea and cake event is being staged at Kymin’s office at 35 Bridge Street, Newport, on St David’s Day, Wednesday, March 1, between 10am and 2pm.

Organiser and cake baker Heather Hughes, of Kymin, said: “We’ll have thick slices of delicious perfectly, home-baked cakes for sale on the day along with the tea and coffees.

“We’re inviting people to pop in for a refreshing cup of tea or coffee and a scrummy slice or two of cake to help us raise as much as we can for the Argus’ 125 Appeal and St David’s Hospice Care through this event.”

The South Wales Argus, which celebrates 125 years of publication in 2017, is recruiting 125 fundraising teams to help raise money during their anniversary year for the Gwent-based St David’s Hospice Care.

Emma Saysell, chief executive of St David’s Hospice Care said: “It’s wonderful that businesses, such as Kymin as well as other organisations and individuals, are really getting behind the 125 appeal. It is also very welcome to know that people realise that any fund raising that they do is in addition to what they may already do for the charity.”

South Wales Argus business editor Jo Barnes said: “The 125 Appeal, which is a celebration of 125 years of publication of the South Wales Argus, is a perfect opportunity for businesses to pledge to raise money for St David’s Hospice Care to continue its tremendous work throughout our community. I’m looking forward to sampling the Kymin chocolate cake.”
