Aspirational entrepreneurs from SMEs around Wales have been taking part in the first Business Wales Growth Week, among them Caerphilly-based Aerfin, Wales' fasted growing business.

The week was made up of a series of events hosted at companies across Wales, dedicated to fostering a growth environment in the Welsh market, and equipping SMEs with the skills to grow successfully, and sustainably.

Aviation giant AerFin shared its growth lessons with a business audience which heard how the civil aviation parts distributor and lessor went from inception in 2010, to top of the Fast Growth 50 listings in 2016, as well as being placed sixth by the Sunday Times in their Fast Track 100 list for UK companies

AerFin managing director Bob James and sales and marketing director, James Bennett, who shared some of the reasons why the firm celebrated an incredible 1044 per cent profit increase over the last two years, generating more than £17m of additional turnover.

Mr Bennett said: “When compared to a lot of other Welsh businesses, AerFin has only been in existence for a short number of years. In that time the firm has gone from strength to strength, achieving unprecedented growth.

“The takeaway message here is to go into business with an open mind. Keep an eye on your future goals and always be looking for the next big business opportunity.”

The growth that AerFin has achieved over the last three years is down to strategic investments, an international outlook, and the dedication of an exceptionally talented, dynamic and experienced workforce.

“We’ve very much enjoyed sharing AerFin’s experience with other ambitious local businesses.”

Mr Bennett said: “It’s been great to see Welsh businesses convene in one place to discuss growth opportunities and ideas. It’s crucial to create a community in which we share ideas and best practice, so we’re pleased and proud to have played a key role in the first ever Business Wales Growth Week.”

The Welsh Government’s Business Wales service launched Business Wales Growth Week to inspire entrepreneurs, pioneering start-ups, and businesses of all shapes and sizes, across a myriad of sectors, with the objective to think big and grow sustainably.

Ellie Fry, national manager at Business Wales, said: “We are extremely delighted with the success of these signature events during Business Wales Growth Week.
