The Angel Hotel, in Abergavenny, has been recognised for exceptional service, becoming the fourth hotel in Wales to achieve a four silver star AA rating.

The Angel Hotel, which puts quality, style and guest experience at the heart of its ethos, sees the rating as positioning it at a superior level to others in the four star category.

The Angel has become an integral part of Abergavenny and the local area, continually supporting local suppliers alongside helping the food and culture offer of the town to flourish, with the opening of a sister property ‘The Angel Bakery’ and through showcasing local artwork around the hotel.

William Griffiths, general manager at The Angel Hotel, said: "We are thrilled to have achieved a grading of four silver stars from The AA. After being named Hotel of the Year, Wales 2016/17, we are keen to continue in progressing and excelling in the hospitality industry and this is fantastic recognition of the continued hard work and dedication of the whole team.”

Since the owners William and Charlotte Griffiths took over The Angel 15 years ago, the hotel has risen to become The AA Hotel of the Year, Wales, as a result of great investment into staff training and development, as well as into the property itself.

The hotel’s smart Georgian façade houses 34 guest rooms, The Oak Room restaurant, The Foxhunter bar, three private event spaces and The Wedgewood room, where the hotel’s decadent afternoon tea, which has held a UK Tea Guild ‘Award of Excellence’ since 2008, is served.

The new rating reinforces the quality of the hotel and its services, inspiring focus on excelling in the levels of hospitality and service offered. The Angel remains an innovative and ambitious hotel, aiming to achieve a 4 Red Star grading, in order to position themselves among the best four-star hotels in the country, as an AA inspector’s choice hotel – the ultimate accolade.
