Mayberry Pharmacies has won two Welsh Pharmacy Awards, which recognise its work in pharmaceutical healthcare.

The company was nominated as a finalist in three award categories of the awards, which provide a platform for healthcare professionals to showcase their work and honour their fellow peers.

It picked up the award for Innovations in Service Delivery and was joint winner of the Independent Pharmacy Practice of the Year Award. The team was also finalists in the Delivery of Pharmaceutical Care Award.

For the past 22 years, Paul Mayberry has been managing director of Mayberry Pharmacy, a group of seven pharmacies based in South Wales, serving more than 100,000 patients, in places including Newport, Crumlin, Trevethin and Blackwood.

During his time at Mayberry Pharmacy, he has developed the new online prescription pouch service PillTime, which helps people take their medications correctly and get the very best outcome for their health.

Paul and his team pride themselves on their motto 'taking care of you' and are driven by a view that no one should suffer unnecessarily. They maintain that your health and wellbeing is a three way partnership between pharmacists, patients and their doctors and the respect each has for the other.

Paul is a director at Cambrian Alliance, a buying group for independent pharmacies and resides on many boards throughout the industry, he is as an independent advisor for the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board working with GPs within the Neighbourhood Care Networks. He helps provide expert clinical advice and support to the NCNs in relation to pharmacy issues.

Paul said: “The team and I are over the moon with the outcome of last night. We really care about our customers and work hard to give them the best service we can, so it is great to get recognition for what we do.”
