International Convention Centre Wales will be showcasing plans for its state-of-the-art new venue at Celtic Manor Resort, Newport, during the Meetings Show at London’s Olympia this week.

The Meetings Show (June 13 to 15) is the premier event for the UK inbound, outbound and domestic meetings industry and this is the first time ICC Wales has formally exhibited its world-class facilities.

Together with partners from Visit Wales and the Celtic Manor Resort, ICC Wales will be vying with 700 other exhibiting companies for the attention of 3000 meeting and event planners who attend the show from all over the world.

The Wales stand at the Meetings Show will include computer generated images of the future ICC Wales to excite and convince event organisers to choose the venue against stiff domestic and international competition. Key event planners and delegates to the show will also be entertained by the London Welsh Rugby Club Choir at a special reception at the stand on the show’s first day.

Chief Executive of ICC Wales and Celtic Manor Resort Ian Edwards said: “Although we’re two years out from opening ICC Wales in 2019, it’s important to build a pipeline of business even before the doors have been built, never mind opened.

"We need to be as busy as possible from day one. So our message needs to be loud and clear for the next two years – book Wales now for your next event. Trade shows are a great way of making contacts, growing awareness and building business that will ultimately benefit the whole of Wales. We can meet many more people in just a few busy days in London than we might otherwise get to see in several months. I’m delighted that we will be banging the business drum for Wales at this prestigious show.”

The ICC Wales is a joint venture between the owners of the Celtic Manor Resort and Welsh Government and is managed by Celtic Manor’s expert leadership team responsible for the successful delivery of the 2014 Nato Summit and the 2010 Ryder Cup.
