A vehicle recovery agency based in Gwent promised to donate a pound for every mile a fundraising cyclist completes of an epic 1,000- mile trek across Italy.
Brad Williams, a regional network manager for Britannia Rescue, is cycling from Catania to Venice in aid of the Recovery Industry Support Charity and the Caldicot Group, which is based at the Severn Bridge Industrial Estate, Caldicot, has promised to back him.
Brad is hoping to raise £5,000 for the good cause, which helps people who have been injured working in the road recovery sector.
Brad is hoping to complete the epic trek in just nine days. He’ll be joined by his work colleague Nigel Jones. The pair are only taking basic supplies including a map to find their way to Venice and a tent to sleep in along the way.
The Caldicot Group is helping support the duo on the journey by donating a pound for every mile they complete meaning a total of £1,000 by the time they arrive in Venice. The company’s managing director Gavin Edwards said they were delighted to be supporting their fundraising efforts.
Gavin said: “RISC is a fantastic charity that does so much invaluable work helping those sadly affect by injury in the industry. As a specialist agency that supports the recovery needs of hundreds of businesses in the West Country we felt it was only right that we got behind Brad and his inspiring fundraising bike ride to help this very worthy cause.”
Brad said: “We’re extremely grateful to Gavin and the Caldicot Group for such a generous donation. It really sets us on our way to reaching our target and gives us a huge lift to complete what is going to be a very challenging ride. We can’t wait to get started though and are looking forward to reaching the finish line.”
