A thriving soft play centre near Blackwood is planning to invest in more staff and facilities as demand grows.

Tumble Jaks in Pengam was set up by Cerys Mayne last year and has proved a hit with youngsters and parents alike.

The venture has been backed by a Business Start Up Grant administered jointly by Caerphilly County Borough Council and Tata Steel subsidiary UK Steel Enterprise.

Tumble Jaks provides a safe, enjoyable environment for children of all ages, who come simply to play, or to enjoy parties with their friends.

Hot and cold food is available for children and adults, and the venue works hard to offer themed events to help youngsters make the most of their time there.

When it launched, Tumble Jaks employed four and now that has increased to seven, with two new staff arriving soon.

The Business Start Up Grant of £500 enabled Cerys to buy kitchen equipment.

She said: “We were very grateful for it, and for the other support we have received.

“We are definitely looking to expand and take on more staff in the future,” she said.

Martin Palmer, of UK Steel Enterprise, said: "It is excellent to see this venture thriving and creating jobs in the local community.”

Cllr Sean Morgan, of Caerphilly County Borough Council, cabinet member with responsibility for economy, said: “I am thrilled that Tumble Jaks soft play centre has been given a business support grant in order to buy essential equipment to expand their business. I wish them the very best of luck in the future.”
