More than 70 business people were at the recent City of Newport Business Club event to hear Dr Jackie Harris, of the University of South Wales, talk about the implications of the General Data Protection Regulations, which come into force on May 25.
Dr Harris spoke to a packed room at the Celtic Manor Resort about the new legislation which will bring all the data privacy laws across Europe into line with each other and replaces the Data Protection Directive 95/46/EC which is currently law.
Dr Harris offered an easy to digest explanation of what GDPR will really mean for SMEs.
The club's next networking meeting will be held at the Celtic Manor Resort on May 24, 2018, when the speaker will be David Davies MP for Monmouth and chairman of the Welsh Affairs Committee.
