Arena Racing Company has appointed Libby O’Flaherty as clerk of the course at Chepstow Racecourse.

Libby, 30, will take over clerking duties at the Monmouthshire track on June 4 from Keith Ottesen, who takes up the role of clerk at Newbury Racecourse.

She is currently clerk of the course at Worcester and Hereford Racecourses, where she has been since completing her training in 2016, which followed ten years in various roles at Wolverhampton Racecourse, latterly as estates manager.

Chepstow Racecourse hosts a full programme of flat and jumps racing, with a total of 32 fixtures across both codes in 2018.

The annual highlights include the October Jumps Opener on October 13 and 14, featuring the Grade 3 Silver Trophy Hurdle and Grade 2 Persian War Novices Hurdle, along with the Coral Welsh Grand National on December 27.

Libby O’Flaherty said: “I am absolutely delighted to be taking on the role of clerk of the course at Chepstow.

"I’m very much looking forward to joining the team from June for the remainder of the flat season ahead of jumping commencing in October. As one of the best jumping tracks in the country it is a privilege to look after such high-profile races as the prestigious Coral Welsh Grand National.”

Executive director of Chepstow Racecourse Phil Bell said: “We are really pleased to welcome Libby to the team at Chepstow. She has done a fantastic job at both Worcester and Hereford in the last couple of years and will bring her experience of working at both of those when she joins us from June.

“We’d also like to thank Keith Ottesen for his years at Chepstow and wish him all the best for the future.”
