A former veterinary surgery was among a host of commercial properties which created wealth of interest at a recent auctions sale.

The one time vets at 67-69 St Mary Street, Risca, with a guide price of £69,000-plus, had a number of potential buyers sniffing around before eventually being sold for £81,000.

The mid-terraced, two-storey property offered a mix of commercial and residential space. Previously two properties, the building offered commercial space on the ground floor and ancillary and residential space above.

Another commercial unit which generated a great deal of interest was a property at 57A Wharf Road, Newport, incorporating a secure unit workshop.

The lot was listed with a guide price of £38,000 and eventually sold for £52,000 after a flurry of bids from the floor and also by telephone.

In close proximity to George Street Bridge the property, which had previously been used as a body shop and fabrication unit, offered 1,321 sq ft of space with a yard area to the front.

An industrial property, Units 3, 3a, 3b, 3c and 4 at Crown Business Park, Dukestown, Tredegar, was offered with a guide price of £200,000.

The selection of industrial units adjacent to the Heads of the Valleys trunk road and with a combined area across the five units of 26,680 sq ft are fully let to various businesses at a combined annual rent of some £41,000, eventually sold for £220,000.

Paul Fosh, of Newport-based Paul Fosh Auctions, said: “Commercial properties have a dedicated following among our regular customers. We’re very pleased to be able to offer a good mix at each of our sale with numbers in the catalogue rising month on month.”

The next Paul Fosh Auctions sale is on Thursday, October 25, at The Park Inn Hotel, Llanedyrn, Cardiff, starting at 5pm.
