A former recruitment agency office in the heart of Chepstow could become an off licence with permission to sell alcohol seven days a week, if a licence is granted this month.

The application, to Monmouthshire County Council, is for a premises licence to be granted for 4-5 Beaufort Square, at the top of pedestrianised St Mary Street, just across from the town’s Beaufort Hotel and opposite the town’s war memorial.

The application is for permission to be granted to sell alcohol for consumption off the premises, to be called Chepstow Store, seven days a week from 6am to 12 pm, 365 days a year.

The consultation period for the application, advertised on the front door of the premises and in the press, ends on Friday, November 16.

Applicant Alpesh Kumar Patel, aged 50, of Reading, Berkshire, says in the application to Monmouthshire County Council the hours and days of opening will remain unchanged throughout the year.

The applicant states in his application that 4-5 Beaufort Square is a vacant premises in Chepstow town centre which he’d like to operate as off licence and confectionary store.

He further states, in relation to hours of operation, that there will be “No exclusion for season or any time of the year. These timings will be same throughout whole year.

The applicant and business partner Sangitaben Patel, aged 47, also of Reading, have applied for permission to be granted for a licence to start their new business this month (November).
