Newport Business Club is set for take off at its next meeting when the regional sales manager for Flybe will be the guest speaker.

Paul Willoughby will talk about his career in the travel industry at the event on November 22.

Mr Willoughby, who has worked in a variety of roles for Flybe since 2001, will be speaking at the Via Julia Suite at the Celtic Manor golf club. The event starts at 5.30pm.

During his career with Flybe, Mr Willoughby has also held the position of general manager, looking after Flybe’s airport and tourism partners across the south of the UK and the airline’s relationship with the Department for Transport.

More recently, he has been involved in the development of Flybe’s operation at Cardiff Airport.

Having joined British Airways in 1973, Mr Willoughby has held several senior managerial positions during his 45 years in the travel industry, both in the UK and worldwide.

Travel has always featured highly on his year planner and regular visits to his house near Valencia form an important part of each year’s travel plans.

He has done business in both French and Portuguese during his time overseas and enjoys a variety of leisure pursuits that include sport, music and photography.

City of Newport Business Club chairman Professor Jonathan Deacon said: “We are delighted to welcome Paul as the latest speaker to our club.

“We are sure our members and their guests be interested in his views on the travel industry in general and, in particular, the potential impact of Brexit on the airline sector.”
