An online business specialising in gifts and handcrafted furniture has expanded into a retail unit.

Sprinklez, run by husband and wife Gareth and Laura Hunt, has move into a unit at Heritage Court, Gilchrist Thomas Estate, Blaenavon.

The Blaenavon duo offer a carefully sourced range of themed, personalised gifts and handcrafted bespoke furniture.

Laura said “Having worked in the NHS for a number of years, I have always loved interiors and this seemed like the perfect business for me.”

“While we have tremendous support locally we have also attracted customers from across South Wales, including Newport, Cwmbran and Merthyr.

"Our website sales have been going well since July and opening the shop seemed like the natural step to take next especially with the festive shopping season now upon us. Customers can come along themselves and select that extra special gift for someone.”

“I believe in offering customers a choice of truly lovely items and gifts which are well curated, keep up with today’s trends and at the same time are affordable.

"We cater for all occasions, celebrations and seasonal events which means that we are updating our stock and bringing in new items all the time.”

The next step for the business is to extend into the upper level of the premises in order to display more furniture.

Councillor Alan Jones, executive member for business, culture, leisure and tourism at Torfaen County Borough Council, said: “It has been delightful to visit this local family business today here in the heart of the Blaenavon World Heritage Site. Laura and Gareth’s enthusiasm for their new business and attention to detail is fantastic. The growth of small but innovative businesses are the economic life blood of this town and I am sure Sprinklez will go from strength to strength.”

Gaynor Wakeling, business development manager, economy and business development at Torfaen County Borough Council, said: “It’s been a pleasure seeing how Laura and Gareth’s business has grown over recent months having provided support to them in the start up stage of their business and their e-commerce and website development. More recently we have also been providing advice on social media and marketing. I wish them all the best for the future in their new premises in Blaenavon.”
