In the past five years, staff at a Welsh electricity business has donated an amazing 3,430 bags of unwanted items to shops run by cancer charity Tenovus Cancer Care.
The donations are worth over £34,300 to the charity and were collected from donation stations set up at Western Power Distribution depots across South Wales.
Carys Jenkins, from Tenovus Cancer Care, said: “We are grateful to everyone at WPD. Every bag donated is worth a minimum of £10 and the stock goes to our shops to be sold. The money raised helps us to provide vital services to cancer patients and their families.”
WPD corporate communication manager Paul Bishop said: “This is a simple but very effective way of helping Tenovus raise much needed funds. Donation boxes were placed in our depots across South Wales for our staff to drop off their unwanted items and they get filled up quickly!
“It has proved to be very popular, and it is wonderful to think that in just two years we have helped provide significant revenue towards Tenovus’ fundraising.”
