ORGANISERS are already preparing for the next Monmouthshire Show after around 20,000 people took advantage of the dry weather.
Around 80 cattle, 50 goats, 500 sheep and over 1,000 dogs were judged at the 151st show at the Monmouth Showground in Redbrook Road.
Exhibitors and visitors from across the UK enjoyed the day which started at 8am yesterday with horse entries coming from as far as Ireland and Scotland.
The show featured show jumping and even pig racing.
In the main ring, entertainment was provided by Meirion Owen and The Quak Pack, the Inter Hunt Relay, scurry racing and daredevil motorbike stunts by Jamie Squibb.
More than 350 trade stands lined the showground while the Town Band and Jazz In took it in turns to play at the bandstand.
Carrie Morgan, 26, from Rockfield, said she enjoys coming to the show because there is lots of things for her children to see and do.
Visitors like Michael Jones from Undy just described it as a nice day out.
Kay Spencer, management secretary of the show, said the show takes the whole year to organise.
She admitted they have already started thinking about what they could do better next year.
Mrs Spencer, who has been the show’s secretary for 14 years, said: “As soon as this show shuts down and we have sent out the prize money and thank you letters, we will start planning.”
The show, which costs over £200,000 to put on, used to be held on Vauxhall Fields but yesterday enjoyed its second year at the Monmouth Showground.
