JEAN Glover (née Muir), a well-known figure in Monmouth, has died peacefully at her home.
She was married to Robert Glover, headmaster of Monmouth School from 1959 to 1976. She was a constant support to her husband and was very much involved with life at the school – a respected and well-liked figure with both the boys and Common Room.
Mr and Mrs Glover were a vital element in the foundation of the Merlin Music Society which helped to bring town and gown closer together and which continues to this day, bringing high-profile musicians to perform in the Blake Theatre.
Her daughter, Jane, went on to follow an illustrious career in music for which she was awarded a CBE. Her son, Richard, is a Haberdasher and chairman of the governors at the Haberdashers’ Aske’s Federation.
Mother to Kate, Jane and Richard, and grandmother to Thomas and Alice, there will be a service of thanksgiving on date to be announced. Enquiries should be made to Holland House in Malvern on 01684 575343.
