A PONTYPOOL man pleaded guilty today to the attempted robbery of a convenience store and the possession of an article with a blade or point – namely a kitchen knife.
The two linked charges relate to an incident at Penygarn Stores on Saturday, January 9.
Jason Atkinson of The Woodlands in Penygarn appeared at Newport Crown Court, and was released on conditional bail while a pre-sentence report is prepared.
The court heard that Atkinson, 24, has no previous convictions but has had one caution from the police. Arrangements to view CCTV evidence of the incident at the next court date will now be made.
Judge David Morris said: “All sentencing options including imprisonment remain available.”
The conditions of bail are that Atkinson must remain indoors at his address between the curfew hours of 8pm-6am and is banned from going into Penygarn Stores, on Channel View.
