A CALDICOT man was sentenced to three years, after attacking three men in two separate incidents.
Malcolm Webb, 20 of Castle Lodge Crescent, admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm against Scott Joyce-Pleece in July last year.
He also admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm on Clive Williams and assaulting Owen Morgan by beating in a separate incident in October last year while on bail for the first attack.
The court heard Webb was serving a suspended sentence for dangerous driving at the time of the first incident.
Prosecuting Nuhu Gobir said the first attack happened outside The Cross pub in Caldicot on July 25 last year.
Mr Joyce-Pleece was smoking outside the pub when Webb approached him and started an argument with him. Webb then hit Mr Joyce-Pleece, knocking him to the floor.
Mr Joyce-Pleece suffered swelling, cuts and grazes to his face and partially broke a tooth.
When arrested Webb said Mr Joyce-Pleece laughed at him and tried to headbutt him.
The court heard the second attack happened at Chepstow bus station in the early hours of October 18 last year, when cousins Mr Williams and Mr Morgan were looking for a taxi at 2.30am following a night out.
Webb approached Mr Morgan in an aggressive manner and was joined by his brother Matthew Webb who also started arguing.
Webb then pulled Mr Morgan by his arm down some steps before punching him in the back of the head.
He then punched Mr Williams who was fighting Matthew Webb, knocking him to the floor where he hit his head.
Mr Williams was left unconscious and suffered a fractured skull and bruising to the head and brain.
Defending Owen Williams said Webb acknowledged the seriousness of his offending.
Sentencing Judge Paul Thomas QC said Webb’s “callous assaults” had resulted in devastating effects on the lives of his victims.
Webb will serve his sentence in a young offenders institution.
