BRAVE Pontypool youngster Jazmine Martin is back in school eight months after facing a second battle with a rare form of cancer after a tumour was found at the base of her spine, and just a year after a tumour had been removed from her kidney.
Now, following months of intensive chemotherapy sessions, the eight-year-old fought off the tumour and is enjoying life with her friends.
The new tumour was found at the base of her spine in July last year and was inoperable and had to be treated with intensive chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Following an MRI scan on New Year’s Eve, doctors confirmed the news Jazmine and her family had been longing for when they were told the tumour has now gone.
Jazmine returned to George Street Primary School, Pontypool, at the beginning of February.
After being off school since September, she is still only able to manage afternoon lessons but mum Beth Fairburn, 28, is hoping to increase her hours after Easter.
