ANOTHER example of Torfaen Council’s right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing – “Going wild with flowers to help bees to thrive”.

I would be amazed if it materialised; a wild flower corridor from Cwmbran to Blaenavon.

It offers so many opportunities to promote an environment in which bees and other pollinators could thrive, where people could walk and improve their health and create an area to provide leisure activities and promote tourism.

Between Cwmbran and Pontypool, Torfaen has such a world renowned asset, designed and built over 200 years ago, that meets the requirements for a wild flower corridor – the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal.

The same Cllr Bob Wellington, who speaks in favour of this proposal, also spoke in favour of destroying the environment along the canal with the South Sebastopol development.

I acknowledge that the canal is man-made, but after 200 years it has evolved into the perfect environment for wild flowers and pollinators and people to enjoy.

Cllr Wellington supported building upon the area around the canal, concreting and tarmacing over land where pollinators have thrived for centuries; replacing trees that clean our atmosphere with houses the pollute our atmosphere.

How easily some people forget the impact of their past decisions and actions.
