AN EX-ARMY serviceman from Gwent is planning to run the Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday – just 14 months after a lorry collided with the motorcycle he was on.

Fifty-five-year-old motorcyclist Neil Davies faced a long battle to recover from the road accident in June last year which left him hospitalised and with his leg broken in four places.

Mr Davies, from Caldicot, said he is confident he will complete the half-marathon on Sunday and is hoping to raise £500 for the Help Imogen Walk appeal.

Two-year-old Imogen Ashwell-Lewis has spastic diplegia cerebral palsy and her mum, Catherine, is trying to raise £40,000 to fund a pioneering operation.

It is not the first long distance run for Mr Davies, who already completed two full marathons when he was working in Berlin for the security forces.
