A FREE community event will be held at a resource centre in Abergavenny next week.

Monmouthshire council is hosting workshops, activities and a performance by the Abergavenny Tenovus Choir at Mardy Park Resource Centre on Hereford Road.

Centre staff will be available to discuss the services offered at the centre and are keen to hear feedback.

The council’s head of adult services, Julie Boothroyd, said: “Mardy Park is a vibrant and extensively-used resource centre but there is still more it can do to help the community support each other.”

“We want to give residents from Abergavenny and the surrounding areas an opportunity to discover what happens in the centre and the various social care and health services co-ordinated by the teams.County Councillor Geoff Burrows, cabinet member with responsibility for social care and health, added: “This event will allow us to further showcase the services and continue the conversation with the local community that began in June. For me this process is about not what Mardy Park can do for the community but what it can do with the community.”

The event takes place on November 29 from 11.30am and 3.30pm.
