PLANS to introduce a law to ban the smacking of children in Wales have been dropped.
The communities, equality and local government committee in the Assembly debated whether to incorporate the ban into the Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (Wales) Bill which was agreed today.
The vote saw Labour AM Chris Chapman vore against the government.
Minister Leighton Andrews said that the bill was not the right place to address the issue of smacking.
