A 27-YEAR-OLD man from Abergavenny has been given a Criminal Anti-Social Behaviour Order (Crasbo) and has been banned from entering the town centre.

Jamie Smith was handed the two year order on January 13, 2015, after his drunk and harassing behaviour in Abergavenny Town Centre. The order gives authorities another tool to deal with individuals who behave persistently in an anti-social way. The order given to Smith prohibits him from entering any licensed premises or off licences and from buying alcohol in Abergavenny.

It also bans him from being in possession of any open container of alcoholic drink in public.

He is not allowed to enter Abergavenny Town Centre including, High Street, Frogmore Street, Nevill Street, Lewis Lane, Flannel Street, Cross Street, St John’s Street, St John’s Square, Market Street, King Street, Tudor Street and the Bus Station between 8pm and 8am.

PC Mal John, of Abergavenny Station, said: “We are using these orders to tackle anti-social behaviour when offenders persistently cause harassment and distress for members of the public in Abergavenny.

“With the introduction of new legislation in October 2014, future offenders will be given Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBOs).

“Officers will arrest Jamie Smith if he is seen breaching the conditions of this order and we would urge the public to contact us by calling 101 if they do see him in the town centre between the restricted hours.”
