CROWDS are expected to attend the annual Bedwellty Agricultural Show which takes place this Saturday.

Organisers of the show hope to build on the success of last year's show which attracted a crowd of 5,000 people.

The show will start from 9am at the showfield, Cefn Fforest in Blackwood.

The annual show has now been running for more than 140 years. This year's displays include the Welsh Axemen, Xtreme Stunt show and a Gun Dog display.

Amy Tamplin, show secretary, said: "We had 5,000 people turn up last year and hopefully the same if not more will come this year. This year itself looks better than last year.

"We hope it will be a really good show and get the people through the door."

Visitors will be able to see entries for the horse and pony classes, livestock as well as poultry and pigeons. They will also be able to experience the Hope and Rescue dog Show, the rabbit and pet show, children's crafts and show jumping organised by Islwyn Riding Club.

There will also be vintage tractors on display and horticulture competitions.

Entry is £5 for adults and £3 for children. Parking is free.
