POLICE are appealing for information following a distraction theft in the Tesco car park in Chepstow on Friday.
The incident took place at around 1.40pm when the female victim was approached by a man asking for directions after she had used the cashpoint and returned to her car.
It is thought that as she was giving him directions, her card was stolen from her bag and cash was withdrawn from her account by the time she realised it was stolen.
It's believed the offender had watched her withdrawing money and noted her pin.
The man is described as six feet tall, smartly dressed, clean shaven, short hair and having a foreign accent.
Police are urging residents and shoppers to be vigilant of this type of theft. If you have any information call 101 quoting log number 354 21/8/15
