CALDICOT Male Voice Choir have raised more than £9,300 in aid of the Sparkle Appeal.

The choir held their last event at the weekend for their chosen charities of the year the Sparkle Appeal, which fundraises for the Serennu Children's Hospital, and Annalese Gosling, a five-year-old girl from Caldicot who has an incurable condition called fibrodysplasia ossificans progressive (FOP).

They held a table top sale at the choir hall on Mill Lane which raised £376 and brings their fundraising total to date at £9,354.

Annalese's condition causes bone to form in muscles and bridges of extra bone can develop forming a second skeleton which could render her immobile.

The money will go towards providing the five-year-old with a specialised bed which costs £4,500.

The choir's fundraising efforts include an three day cycle ride from the source of the River Severn at Plynlimmon to Caldicot along with a charity golf day.

Barclays Bank have donated £2,000 to Sparkle Appeal after match funding for two events.
