A NEW BBC series will be filmed in a Monmouthshire village this week.

The series, called Street Auction, is presented by Paul Martin of Flog It and will bring a street and community together in a massive fundraising effort.

Last month neighbours in the area were asked to donate unwanted and unloved items which will be sold at a ‘pop up’ auction, hosted by Paul.

The auction will take place on Saturday, May 28 the programme will be filmed in Meadway, Rogiet from 1.30pm to 5pm.

The auction will form part of a street party with stalls of donated items including cakes, bric-a-brac, books and plants, along with other fundraising initiatives and entertainment. The stalls will all add to the total being raised and, at the end of the event, the grand total will be announced.

Paul Martin said: “We are really looking forward to it. We met some fantastic people on our rummaging day and it makes you realise how keen people are to help in a community effort.

“It also makes you realise how all of us have things we are willing to part with. We’ve found some great things in sheds and attics. The kind people of Rogiet have donated everything from haircuts to homemade Harry Potter signs!”

“We hope lots of people will come along on the day – and bring something to sell for the fund.”

The money raised will go to a local resident whose identity will be revealed on the day.
