HUNDREDS of people braved the bad weather for this year’s Devauden Festival.

The Festival’s 7th event was kicked off on Friday night with performances from Rusty Shackle, Chwarae Teg and Little Folk.

It then carried on through a rainy Saturday with the Neville Staple Band and The Hot Knive Club.

Entertainment included an inflatable slide which turned into a water slide due to the downpour, and over 200 stalls offered refreshments, arts and crafts.

Kevin McElroy, one of Devauden's Community Council members, said the numbers were down on the Saturday because of the weather but it didn't seem to matter.

"There was about 600 people on the Friday, but the rain on the Saturday didn't seem to dampen people's spirits though.

"A lot of people put on their wellies and there was a real festival vibe."

Assembly member for Monmouth, Nick Ramsay paid a visit to the festival.

He said: “Despite the clouds opening on Saturday, everyone had great fun. We were treated to a superb performance by Monmouth and Chepstow Rock Choir which was enjoyed by all.

“This is a fantastic event in the Monmouthshire calendar. I hope it continues to go from strength to strength in the years to come.”
