A CAT died after being shot by an air rifle or air gun leaving his owners "devastated".

RSPCA Cymru have appealed for information after the animal was shot in Cwmbran on May 28.

On 28 May, Marley returned to his home on St Andrews Close in Pontrhydyrun, Cwmbran very unwell. Within minutes the black and white two-year-old cat died leaving his owners devastated.

The incident - which is a suspected air rifle or pellet gun attack - is believed to have happened between 8pm and 9pm.

RSPCA inspector Selina Chan said: “This is a terribly sad incident. A puncture wound was discovered on his left side caused by an air rifle or pellet gun. The pellet went straight through his chest and is likely to have killed poor Marley.

“We don’t know who could have done this, so we are appealing for information. Anyone with information about this incident should contact the RSPCA inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018. Calls are treated in confidence.”

Marley’s owner said: “I was devastated and appalled. I can’t believe someone would want to hurt an animal.”
