FIREFIGHTERS in south Wales have attended 93 deliberately set fires in the last week.
Since Saturday last week crews from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service have been called to more than 135 fires of which 93 were deliberately set. A spokeswoman said in the last week they have attended 56 deliberately lit refuse fires, 26 vehicle fires, 16 kitchen fires and three caravan fires.
On Friday fire crews attended six deliberately set refuse fires in Gwent.
These included a refuse fire inside public toilets on Frogmore Street in Abergavenny which Abergavenny and Blaenavon crews were called to at 3.01pm.
Refuse was also set on fire in Fairwater Cwmbran at 5.04am, Gwent Rows, Abertillery at 7.25, Bridge Street, Tredegar, at 10.03pm, Trevethin in Pontypool at 8.08pm and Lliswerry in Newport at 8.47pm.
Abergavenny and Blaenavon crew also called at 12.32am on Saturday morning to a deliberately set fire involving an exterior display board at Tesco Store on Frogmore Street, Abergavenny.
