HUNDREDS of people gathered in Caldicot last weekend to enjoy the return of the town's fun day.

The event, organised by community group Caldicot Town Team, saw visitors of all ages take part in a range of activities in a bid to draw people into the town centre.

The popular 'land train' ride, which reportedly attracted around 300 people, snaked through the town centre while other revellers enjoyed a dance performance from local group Powerhouse.

County councillor John Marshall also treated the large crowds to a show when he ended up in the dunk tank.

Other displays included a petting zoo,

Aaron Reeks, one of the Town Team's directors, hailed the day a success which built on the inaugural event last year.

"It was really busy, and it was great to see a number of faces from outside the town that we'd never seen before," said Mr Reeks.

"All of the traders seemed to be quite happy with the business they got on the day.

"The social impact in one day in the town centre is much greater than making any income so we'll be looking to do something similar again next year."
