The A48 has now reopened more than eight hours after it was shut.
Structural engineers have removed the vehicle involved, confirmed as a lorry.

A Gwent Police spokeswoman said: "At approximately 11.05pm on Wednesday October 5 Gwent Police were called to reports of an RTC on the A48 between Caerwent and the roundabout for Chepstow and Caldicot.
"The incident involved a single vehicle.
"The road has remained closed for some time while the vehicle was recovered and the debris was cleared.
"There were no serious injuries."
UPDATE: 12.34pm
THE A48 at Crick near Caldicot is closed in both directions after a vehicle crashed into a bridge last night.
The closures are in place between Crick Road junction and the Dinham Road junction.
