MONMOUTHSHIRE residents will get another opportunity to enjoy a season of ballet this week as well as help raise funds for Chepstow Museum.

Chepstow Drill Hall will be bringing the Bolshoi in Moscow to the big screen this Sunday, October 16, where they will be broadcast live.

The screenings are at an ideal time for young ballet fans to join the audience of ballet lovers of all ages, and this season’s programme features some classics, and some contemporary works, performed by dancers which will captivate audiences.

Launching the 2016-2017 season at 4pm is The Golden Age, a ballet unique to the Bolshoi that will be new and unknown to most British ballet goers, but is set in a popular period with music and dance and costumes with wide appeal.

The Golden Age is a glorious satire of Europe in the Roaring 20s and is a dazzling, colourful show with a music hall atmosphere.

Set in a seaside town where business, and the Mafia are flourishing, ‘The Golden Age’ is actually a cabaret, the favourite nightly haunt of bandits, young revellers and dancers. It’s where Boris falls in love with Rita, who is a dancer, but is also the friend of a local gangster.

Chepstow Museum is promoting the Bolshoi ballet season screenings as fundraisers for the museum, and tickets are available from the museum for £12 for adults and £10 concession (children and young people, students and senior citizens).

To book, phone the museum on 01291 625981.
