A MONMOUTHSHIRE golf club has been a hive of activity as it launches a new project to help increase the bee population.

Raglan Park Golf Club is aiming to help the bee population by having wild flower seed areas around the grounds.

The club is currently increasing facilities for members by building a new conservatory which overlooks the newly sculpted bank garden area, where new bulbs will be planted to help the bee population.

A spokesman for Raglan Park Golf said: “After hearing about the decimation of the bee population the management of the club are keen to help.

“They are going to great lengths investigating plants for pollinators to substantially increase the bee friendly habitat at the club.

“Naturalised bulb planting, the new pollinating plant bank and hopefully wild flower seed areas will bolster the bee population.

“It will also give a new dimension to Raglan Park golf club environment making it a good place for people and bees.”
