Gwent Police have named the man who died in the crash in Magor as 35-year-old Robert William Freeman.

Mr Freeman, who was from the Bristol area, was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Specialist officers are currently supporting his family.

Police are appealing for information following the crash, which happened at 1.45am on the A4810 near the Tesco Distribution Centre

Gwent Police have confirmed that the man involved in the crash earlier this morning has died.

A 35-year-old man from the Bristol area was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

They are appealing for information following the crash which involved a motorbike and happened at around 1.45am on the A4810 near the Tesco Distribution Centre near Magor.

Specialist officers are supporting his family.

A SERIOUS motorbike crash in Magor has led to long delays on the M4 this morning.

The crash, which involved one motorbike, happened on the B4245 at Magor and has caused the road to be closed in both directions. Because of the proximity of road to junction 23a of the M4, delays have resulted on the motorway.

A spokesman for Gwent Police said that officers were called at 1.54am this morning and confirmed that only one vehicle was involved.  

He said: "We were called to the crash at 1.54am this morning, it involved one vehicle, a motorcycle. It was a very serious accident.

"We are not looking for anyone else but the road is looking to be closed while investigative work is going on."
