A MICHELIN-starred Monmouthshire chef will be welcoming pupils from a Blaenau Gwent primary school to his restaurant to help with a project.

Chef Chris Harrod, along with renowned Chepstow forager Henry Ashby, will host 16 schoolchildren from Coed Y Garn primary school at The Whitebrook restaurant next week.

The restaurant is well-known for using ingredients found within its Wye Valley surroundings and is ranked amongst the top 50 eateries in the UK by the Good Food Guide 2017.

The visitors will be treated to a five course foraged tasting menu at the venue near Monmouth in the hope that they feel "closer to their natural environment and understand the connection between nature and food."

It will form the finale of a school drive to promote mindfulness in young learners and enhance their motivation for learning.

An advocate of the use of creativity to facilitate learning, Mr Harrod is "delighted" to be able to host the children in this final instalment of the project, which is funded by the Lead Creative Schools Scheme, an Arts Council of Wales initiative.
