CALDICOT Running Club will be able to expand its reach within the community after receiving a £1,500 Community Chest grant.
The funding, from Sport Wales, will be used to expand its training facilities and introduce a brand new junior section.
The club has more than 50 members and prides itself on its “friendly and inclusive nature” for all abilities.
The men’s captain, Nathan Reeks, said: “This grant allows Caldicot Running Club to welcome more members of all ages and offer structured and accredited training. It will make a huge difference to the people of the local area.”
The chairwoman of Sport Wales, professor Laura McAllister, added: “It is the hard work and commitment at this grassroots level that really makes a significant contribution to or ambitions of getting every child hooked on sport for life and creating a nation of champions.”
Clubs looking to benefit from a similar grant can call the sport and community development team 01633 644544, or visit monleisure.co.uk, to check eligibility.
