HISTORIC monuments will come alive with the stories, myths and legends of Wales this May bank holiday weekend.

Cadw, the Welsh Government’s historic service, is running a full programme of family events between May 27 and May 29.

In Monmouthshire, visitors to Chepstow Castle will be immersed in fantastical tales of Wales as the ‘Summer of Stories’ comes to the early medieval site.In the spirit of Welsh legends, the event will also be attended by a “terrifying” Welsh dragon.

Raglan Castle will be a number of events over the weekend surrounding ‘Legends of Fairy Tales’, where young visitors will be able to meet dragons, princesses and monsters.

Ken Skates, cabinet secretary for economy and infrastructure in Wales, said: “We hope that Cadw’s jam-packed itinerary of family events will encourage locals and tourists alike to explore Wales’s captivating monuments this May bank holiday.”

Visitors to Cadw sites are being encouraged to share their experiences on social media by using the hashtag #LivetheLegends.
