A COLLEGE has opened a new cafe at its campus in Usk and started building work for a new learning centre.

Coleg Gwent, which currently has five campuses and a business training centre, is developing the Usk site to create permanent facilities for students.

The £2m learning centre due to open in August next year and funded by the college, will house a library, classrooms, offices.

Alex Anderson, head of estates development for Coleg Gwent, said: “Investing in these important spaces shows our commitment as a college to the development of our students.”

Welsh Government provided the college with £1.64m of funding to create a new café onsite.

After eight years, this building has now replaced an old portakabin.

Education secretary, Kirsty Williams said, “Our investment in this new space will provide students and staff the best environment and facilities possible for them to learn and achieve their full potential.”
