Gwent Police have confirmed that an 82-year-old man died in the crash.
Specially trained officers are supporting his family and an appeal has now been launched.

A PERSON has been killed following a two-vehicle crash in Newport.
The A48 at Langstone, Newport has now been closed in both directions.
A spokesman from the Welsh Ambulance Service said: "There has been one fatal RTC on the A48."
