SAFETY advice has been issued after a chimney fire at a hotel in Abergavenny.
Two fire engines were called to the blaze at The Angel Hotel in Cross Street, Abergavenny, on Friday at around 11.55am.
The fire, which was "well alight", was extinguished using two hose reels and chimney rods.
A thermal imaging camera was also used to ensure it was extinguished.
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service has issued safety advice after the incident.
Group manager Matt Jones, home safety, said: “Now that the colder weather is upon us South Wales Fire and Rescue Service recommend home owners make every effort to ensure their chimneys and flues are serviced by an approved chimney sweep before use and at regular intervals to maintain their safety.
"In addition to this we recommend that you have working smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors fitted."
