A BEAUTY spot blighted by rubbish has been cleared up thanks to a team of workers from McDonald's who completed a litter pick.

The picturesque road leading from Llanfoist to Blaenavon was part of the famous Velothon route but has recently been blighted by litter.

After an appeal on the popular Facebook page, Abergavenny Voice, eight crew members and business manager Mike Gardner from McDonald's in Abergavenny decided to clean up the area.

Over the course of the clean up on Wednesday, May 2, the team collected 11 bags of rubbish including cans, bottles and packaging.

A spokeswoman for McDonald’s said: “As a responsible local business we are committed to playing our part in tackling rubbish.

"We were delighted to be able to make a difference in the local community by collecting litter from this area of outstanding natural beauty which overlooks Abergavenny town as well as the Sugarloaf and Skirrid mountains.

"Working with the Llanfoist Community Council, Keep Wales Tidy and local residents we will continue to combat litter in the beautiful surroundings of our restaurant.

"This summer we are also planning to host a ‘Love Where You live’ litter picking event in Abergavenny with team members from across the business."
