I AM EXTREMELYworried about the NHS.

It is being robbed of millions of pounds by the PFI – Private Finance Initiatives – which was set up by Gordon Brown (to keep the costs off the government).

Chepstow Community Hospital was put up on this system at a cost to the PFI of £10 million.

The health authority owned all the land around the two hospitals which was sold for £6 million and given to the PFI so it cost the PFI £4 million. This to be repaid at £1.2 million a year for 25 years (£30 million).

Also the PFI got the contract for the upkeep of the hospital for 25 years at a cost of £600,000 a year (upkeep means buildings, grounds and also catering).

All other costs, medical, surgery, etc, to be paid by the NHS. To me this seems like extortion.

These figures can be confirmed by logging on to Chepstow Community Hospital History.
