MY uncle worked in a coking plant at a South Yorkshire Colliery. It brought about his early death.

Employers are able to get away with murder and are now being helped by a government which is not fit to be in power.
I once admired the company that I worked for, for having the integrity to place a “Hazard Board” and a book at the entrance to its many dangerous plants. Little did I realise that they would all be removed the instant the company defeated the trade unions and began to employ contract labour instead.
The head of engineering could not understand why I  turned down the offer of a job with them. The situation sickened me, especially since I already had symptoms of the complaints brought about by prolonged working for a major chemical manufacturer.
