Chance to have say on Heads of the Valleys Valleys road dualling

MEMBERS of the public can have their say on the dualling of the Heads of the Valleys road between Gilwern and Brynmawr with exhibitions taking place in November.
The Welsh Government has published plans for the A465, that will see the road widened as it passes through Clydach Gorge, alongside the River Clydach and a number of communities either side.
Once the road between Brynmawr and Tredegar is dualled, it will be a continous dual carriageway from Abergavenny to Merthyr.
Earlier this week the Welsh Government announced a further £40 million to be spent in 2015/16 to accelerate the scheme.
Exhibitions will be held at Brynmawr Foundation School on November 13, Clydach Village Hall on November 14 and Old School Community Hall in Gilwern on November 15 and 16.
According to draft orders from the Welsh Government the 8.1 kilometre (five mile) long road will have a reduced “design standard” when compared to the rest of the dualled route due to the “extreme sensitivity of the local environment”, and have a 50mph speed limit.
Transport Minister Edwina Hart said: “The public exhibitions are an opportunity for local people to have their say on the plans during the six-week objection period.”
