A GROUP of Monmouth students had a chance meeting with rock legend and Queen guitarist, Dr Brian May CBE, during a tour of Parliament.

The year 13 students, who attend Haberdashers’ Monmouth School for girls, were on a tour of the landmark building on Wednesday organised by Monmouth MP David Davies.

The visit also gave them the chance to ask Mr Davies about the work of an MP and politics in general.

Mr Davies said: “It was a pleasure to meet with the staff and pupils from Haberdashers’ Monmouth School for Girls. They were an absolute credit to the school, which is going from strength to strength. The pupils asked a lot of interesting and clever questions on a number of subjects that definitely gave me food for thought.”

David Griffiths, the school’s head of history, said: “The girls really enjoyed their trip to Parliament, especially the time they had to ask David questions about the work of MP”.
