AN ABERGAVENNY theatre company has been nominated for three theatre awards.

The VIG Theatre Company who perform at the Abergavenny Borough Theatre have been nominated by the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) for their production of The Witches Of Eastwick. They have been nominated for Best Production, Best Stage Management and Technical, and Duanos Eduardo, who played Darryl Van Horne for Best Performer.

The theatre company performed the production in July 2013 with a minimalistic set, complete with a flying rig and original choreography. Duanos Eduardo, nominated for Best Performer, said: “Hearing about the nomination was so overwhelming, I am so grateful and honoured but I couldn’t have played Darryl the way I did without the support of the Witches cast and crew.”

The story is set in the small New England town of Eastwick, where three women, each with their own cross to bear against the male species, conjure and plot which results in a devil-like character, Darryl Van Horne who shakes up the natural order.

Lisa-Marie Williams, director and choreographer, said: “I am immensely proud of VIG.”

and so thankful that NODA have chosen to recognise the hard work that our cast & band put in to creating Witches. Mr Rowe’s support has been wonderful. We’re glad that our little corner of Wales has been represented by our theatre company.”

Dana P. Rowe, the composer who wrote The Witches Of Eastwick, has tweeted his praise for the group, he said: “Outstanding! Please pass my congratulations on to all. You rock!” The award ceremony will be held in London in May 2014.
