THIEVES stole mountain bikes and flagstones from a Monmouth activity centre.

Gwent Police believe they were stolen in the week between Christmas and New Year at the Hilston Park Centre in Newcastle.

Ian Kennett, who runs the centre, said the six bikes that were stolen were each worth about £350 to £400 and were the only ones that were kept at the centre, which is based on the B4347.

They are red and white Hard Rock Disc specialised mountain bikes of varying sizes.

Two of the bikes had a frame size of 13 inches, two had a frame size of 19 inches, one had a frame size of 15.5 inches and another’s frame was 21 inches.

Mr Kennett said a “substantial” number of the flagstones had been ripped up from the centre and that he believed it was a targeted attack.

He said about 50 of the flagstones had been taken. They covered an area of about 35 square metres.
