A CHEPSTOW pub has won a coveted prize for pubs in Gwent for the fourth year in a row.

The Coach and Horses on Welsh Street learned it had been named Gwent Campaign for Real Ale (Camra) town pub of the year last week. It has won every year since 2011.

Landlord Ian Meyrick said: “We are over the moon – the staff, the management and the customers. It’s the biggest accolade any pub can have in the county. We’re delighted to have won it not just for the first time but for a fourth time.”

A separate award for country pubs was awarded to The Clytha Arms near Abergavenny. The landlord Andrew Canning said it was the sixth time the pub had won the award in the 21 years his family has owned it.

The pubs are judged over the year on criteria like hospitality and food.
